At the pediatric and orthodontic practice of North Texas Smiles, we are happy to offer the Invisalign® alignment system for our young patients in Fort Worth, Texas who can benefit from an orthodontic alternative to traditional braces with metal brackets and wires. Invisalign perfect for straightening your teen’s crooked or crowded teeth, as well as help with tooth gaps and a bite that is off.

Invisalign works by giving your teen a series of clear (and discreet) plastic aligners customized to their smile. The aligners shift their teeth incrementally into place without the need for visible metal wires and brackets. They simply change the aligners out–every two weeks or so which advances into the next stage of their alignment process.

With Invisalign, your teen has two benefits that traditional braces don’t offer them. One, their aligners are removable so they can maintain their normal daily oral hygiene routine. They can still brush and floss as usual to remove bacterial biofilm (or dental plaque) which leads to cavities and gum disease if left alone. Cleaning between the teeth and around the gumline is easy without trying to maneuver around brackets and wires and worrying about damaging them as they clean their smiles.

Another benefit Invisalign offers is your teen is a healthy diet. No need to change their eating habits because of potential damage to wires and brackets, your teen can still enjoy raw carrots, apples, and BBQ steak without worrying about their aligners, because they simply take them out when they eat. Just make sure they don’t leave the aligner behind when they are done, which is especially important when eating lunch at school.
