You might think that treating a child’s baby teeth isn’t that useful since they’re going to fall out on their own eventually anyway. However, caring for baby teeth is a must since without them, adult (also defined as permanent) pearly whites will not grow in straight, but instead crowded and misaligned. Here are some tips on treating your child’s baby teeth while your child is younger than three:
Use toothpaste to brush your child’s teeth as soon as they come through. Since your child has only little teeth, you won’t need to use very much toothpaste. Dab a rice-grain-sized bit of toothpaste onto your child’s brush and brush their pearly whites thoroughly. Do this two times daily. Again, although this may seem like overkill, tooth erosion can start as soon as chompers appear, so it’s important to begin cleaning the pearly whites instantly. Tooth breakdown has been proven to negatively impact the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children.
